Americans were rewarded for enduring Monday Night Football’s game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles with a new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, prompting millions of people worldwide to clamor for their smartphones and computers to catch a glimpse of any clues J.J. Abrams snuck into the 2 minute, 35 second advertisement for the latest installment of the space saga.

As more fans watched the trailer, YouTube kept racking up hits, with nearly 11 million views of the trailer in just over 12 hours. Fans shared the video through their Facebook and Twitter feeds, unleashing their inner geek.

But notably absent from the trailer was plot. Very little of the story has been unveiled in the three trailers. Harrison Ford’s Han Solo and his partner Chewbacca are seen, again, while a brief glimpse of Solo’s love, Princess Leia, appears towards the end. But there is no plot element that can be discovered — aside from the obvious good vs. evil between a new leader of the Dark Side and presumably Daisy Ridley’s Rey and John Boyega’s Finn.

Instead, we get a treat of John William’s musical talent, leading viewers along the ride as even more modernized graphics and special effects jump out of the screen, a far cry from the original effects George Lucas’ first Star Wars in 1977.

This film, the seventh in the space opera, will open nationwide on December 18. It is the first of three planned sequels announced by Disney and Lucasfilm after George Lucas sold his film company to the Mouse in 2012. It stars Mark Hamill, Ford, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Ridley, Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow, and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca.
